Tollesbury village is located within the Maldon District on the Essex Saltmarsh coast. Situated at the mouth of the River Blackwater, Tollesbury is a favourite for photography. Most Tollesbury photography is focused around the marina on Woodrolfe Road and the saltmarshes. Tollesbury village is great for photography, and due to its location, the influence of the River Blackwater will always play a key part. Paying particular notice to tide times when visiting will always produce the best opportunities for photography. At low tide you will see lovely detail in the seabed and saltmarshes, when the receding tide will reveal interesting textures that add to the photography. At higher tides and expecially a spring tide, parts of Tollesbury such as Woodrolfe Road where the Sail Lofts and Granary are situated and the saltmarshes will flood, giving opportunity for wonderful reflections and smoothed out water scenes with longer exposures. Being on the east coast, Tollesbury is great for sunrise photography, with the marina and seawall being a great place for colourful skies and dynamic scenery. If you’re lucky enough to catch high tide at sunrise when there is high cloud you’re sure for a stunning visual experience as the skies change from orange to purple, blue to yellow.
