Heybridge Basin is a landscape photographer’s dream come true. Situated on the east coast of England, in Maldon, the basin is home to the River Blackwater, Osea Beach, and Heybridge Creek. All of which offer stunning views and ample opportunity to capture beautiful photographs.
The River Blackwater is particularly picturesque, with its winding course and picturesque sea views. Osea Beach is perfect for those who enjoy capture seascapes, with its unique beach huts on stilts to views across to Osea Island, why not stop for some refreshments at Osea View cafe.
Heybridge Basin is at the end of the River Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation which starts its 14 mile jounrney in the centre of Chelmsford. If you park in Daisy Meadows car park, you’re in a great spot to start a lovely walk along the sea wall. Turn right at Heybridge Basin and you’ll get to ses vews across the river to Maldon Promenade Park. Turn left and you’ll pass Blackwater Sailing Club and reach Osea Beach within a couple of miles.

So why not grab your camera and head on over to Maldon for a landscape photography adventure you’ll never forget. Being on the east coast, Heybridge in Maldon is great for sunrise photography, with the Basin and seawall being a great place for colourful skies and dynamic scenery. If you’re lucky enough to catch high tide at sunrise when there is high cloud you’re sure for a stunning visual experience as the skies change from orange to purple, blue to yellow.
